Role Description
Are you a skilled employee relations investigator known for your objectivity and discretion? Are you looking for a flexible work environment that offers challenging work and a supportive cross functional team for those complex cases? Peraton is seeking an Employee Relations Investigator to conduct the full lifecycle of employee relations investigations on a variety of topics.
- Plan investigations, conduct fact-finding interviews, and gather statements from employees at all levels of the organization.
- Identify and prioritize high-risk complaints.
- Prepare clear, precise documentation records for all assigned cases.
- Work independently, managing assigned case load to ensure timely and fair completion of cases.
- Excel in an environment with fluctuating workload and shifting priorities.
- Collaborate with the ER team including HR and Legal to summarize investigation findings, make determinations, and recommend courses of action.
- Draft and review official disciplinary documents and communicate expectations to management for document delivery.
- Ensure documents are maintained within the repository.
- Provide support and direction to business partners and stakeholders by offering policy guidance and interpretation.
- Conduct trainings on topics such as investigative best practices, online case management tool, relevant employment law, and company policy.
- Build strong relationships with HR and across all functions of the organization.
- Proactively manage risk and review case data to identify trends and systemic issues.
- Create response plans for enhancing employee relations in specific locations and employee populations.
- Support other key HR Compliance areas such as Affirmative Action Plans, State Reporting, reductions in force, furloughs, ADA accommodations, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent years working in employee relations or similar HR role) with 5+ years’ experience leading detailed and complex investigations into potential company policy violations.
- 9+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements.
- Proven experience creating and communicating policy updates across a larger HR team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.
- Preference for investigator to be local to Northern Virginia area.
Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
