Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated hardware systems integration leader to join our Hardware R&D team. Hardware system integration leads are the single-threaded owners for the technical execution and success of Dexcom’s hardware products.

  • Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team of engineering SMEs (EE, ME, FW, Sensors, Materials/Process, Operations, and QA).
  • Drive system-level technical alignment, integration readiness, and delivery of hardware design outputs within our PDP and QMS frameworks.
  • Accountable for hardware technical deliverables and inter-domain integration across R&D functions.
  • Partner closely with program leadership and HW TPM/PMO counterparts for schedule/RAID visibility, communications, and operating rhythm.

As the single-threaded hardware technical lead for an assigned program, you will:

  • Be accountable for end-to-end delivery of system-level hardware technical outcomes across functions.
  • Drive system architecture and interface alignment across EE/ME/FW/Sensors.
  • Ensure technical decisions are made, documented, and owned (tradeoffs, rationale, and closure).
  • Lead a cross-functional team of SMEs, act as the stitching function between domain experts, and own system-level hardware deliverables.
  • Mediate technical discussions and decisions.
  • Ensure design inputs/outputs are complete, reviewable, and ready for phase exits (technical readiness and evidence quality).
  • Spearhead technical risk identification and mitigation (integration risks, performance margins, test/evidence gaps).
  • Provide “voice-of-function” for hardware in cross-functional decision making.
  • Represent the program at engineering and management forums to ensure alignment with business and organizational needs.
  • Partner with HW TPM/PMO counterparts on operating cadence, schedule/RAID tracking and visibility, and stakeholder communications.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and proactive technical problem-solving across the cross-functional engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated systems-level technical leadership: ability to integrate across EE/ME/FW/Sensors and drive crisp technical decision making in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record executing through all stages of the product development lifecycle in a regulated environment.
  • Strong discipline around PDP/QMS technical deliverables and readiness.
  • Strong cross-disciplinary hardware background with the ability to operate at the system level.
  • Ability to identify integration pitfalls early and drive technical closure.
  • Ability to lead technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and translate goals into clear technical milestones.
  • Emotional intelligence to handle interpersonal relationships efficiently and empathetically.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience.
  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Benefits

  • A front row seat to life changing CGM technology.
  • Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.
  • A full and comprehensive benefits program.
  • Growth opportunities on a global scale.
  • Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.
  • An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
