- Coordinate and schedule patient office visits, in-office procedures, operating room cases, and incoming referrals, including communicating schedule changes to patients and clinical teams.
- Obtain, process, and document insurance pre-authorizations, pre-certifications, and coordination of benefits for procedures, imaging, prescriptions, and surgeries.
- Provide authorization and required clinical information to outside facilities to support continuity of care.
- Educate patients on surgical and procedural details, including pre-operative and post-operative instructions and follow-up care.
- Inform patients of insurance coverage, out-of-pocket expenses, and required payments prior to procedures, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Respond to patient portal messages, voicemails, and inquiries within established service timelines.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including clinical communications and procedural details.
- Ensure all patient communication and procedural information is appropriately shared with relevant clinical and administrative team members.
- Provide general administrative support as needed to promote efficient clinic operations and high standards of patient service.
• 2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred
• 3 years of experience in sales preferred
• 3 years of experience in surgical counseling preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- One of the following licenses required:
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
- Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COMT)
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
