Role Description
Heggerty is seeking experienced facilitators to deliver high-quality professional development to teachers and school leaders. In this contract role, consultants will facilitate engaging virtual and in-person training sessions, equipping educators with the knowledge and confidence to implement Heggerty’s evidence-based literacy practices.
- Deliver engaging, research-based training sessions on the Heggerty curriculum, both virtually and in-person.
- Tailor training approaches to meet the unique contexts of schools and districts.
- Coordinate professional development sessions, including scheduling, sharing materials, and ensuring a seamless learning experience.
- Participate in onboarding, routine training, and internal meetings to stay informed on product updates and instructional best practices.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for participants, answering questions and providing guidance during sessions.
- Independently manage travel and scheduling commitments during peak training seasons.
- Act as a liaison between Heggerty and partners, ensuring effective communication of issues and needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or a related field (advanced degree in literacy, reading science, or a related field strongly preferred).
- Relevant certifications in literacy instruction, structured literacy, or dyslexia intervention (e.g., LETRS, Orton-Gillingham, or similar) are a plus.
- Experience delivering professional development to educators in various learning formats (webinar, in-person, asynchronous).
- Prior classroom teaching experience, with a strong foundation in evidence-based literacy practices.
- Familiarity with Heggerty curricula and relevant instructional approaches aligned with the Science of Reading.
- Expertise in using educational technologies to support student and teacher learning.
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage adult learners.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to manage logistics for training sessions.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, etc.) and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom).
- Contractors must provide their own equipment, including a computer, microphone, and webcam.
- Must have a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace for delivering virtual training.
Requirements
- Ability to travel as needed, particularly during peak seasons (July–October).
- Ideal candidates are preferably located near a major airport for ease of travel.
