Role Description
We are excited to bring on an AVP of Group Benefits Claims - Short Term Disability & Leave - to join our Group Protection Claims team in a remote or hybrid environment, depending on your proximity to one of our key cities.
- Provide operational leadership, customer engagement, and strategic execution.
- Responsible for the overall leadership and direction of an STD and Leave organization.
- Partner collectively to ensure successful service outcomes for the broader organization.
- Contribute to developing strategies that have substantial impact on the success of the claims organization & enhance the customer experience.
- Develop & execute strategic initiatives which have substantial impact on the success of the organization and enhance the customer experience.
- Anticipate & provide strategies/solutions to complex problems or trends.
- Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends.
- Identify opportunities and implement industry leading best practices & strategies to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop, maintain & analyze appropriate metrics & control mechanisms.
- Direct and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting transformational change management.
- Identify and direct strategic process improvements that drive efficiency and improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
- Develop & maintain close customer ties, articulates customer needs, and keep priorities in focus with the desires and expectations of the customer.
- Approve & make complex management-related financial decisions consistent with company guidelines.
- Direct the processing and administration of all aspects of claims for STD & Leaves ensuring accurate & timely claim management.
- Ensure claims processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures & department guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal &/or external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery service.
- Develop, manage & oversee the budget for your organization.
Qualifications
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
- 10+ Years Experience in Claims that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
- Demonstrate strong transformational leadership skills.
- Ability to think critically, analyze information, and make decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal/external stakeholders.
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
- Previous STD and Leave product knowledge and leadership (Preferred).
- Experience in small and regional group insurance markets (Preferred).
- Travel Type: Regional Domestic
- Travel Amount: up to 25%
