Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SAP HCM Integration Lead Consultant with deep expertise in SAP Cloud Platform Integration (SCPI), end-to-end HCM/Payroll integrations, and strong ABAP coordination skills. This senior role will lead the integration workstream within a large-scale, complex U.S. Payroll (PY-US) implementation, ensuring seamless data exchange across SAP HCM, EC Payroll, and a wide range of thirdparty systems.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of functional HCM/PY-US knowledge, technical integration strategy leadership, hands-on middleware experience (primarily SCPI), and a solid understanding of P2P (Processor-to-Payroll) flows and Payroll Control Center (PCC) processes. You will collaborate with clients, vendors, and technical teams to design secure, scalable, and efficient integration solutions that support payroll operations, compliance, and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Integration Strategy & Solution Design

  • Lead requirements-gathering workshops with clients, vendors, and third-party partners to capture detailed interface needs.

  • Define robust integration architectures aligned with business objectives, system landscapes, and security standards.

  • Develop comprehensive Integration Design Documents (IDDs) outlining data flows, mappings, formats, transformations, and security protocols.

  • Ensure designs support U.S. payroll processing, PCC validation flows, file transfers, thirdparty remittances, and compliance reporting.

  • Map P2P end-to-end data interactions across Employee Central, Payroll, Time, Benefits, and external systems.

Technical Leadership & Delivery Execution

  • Lead the design and build of interfaces using:

  • SCPI/HCI (primary middleware)

  • RFC, BAPI, ALE/IDoc, and filebased integrations

  • REST/SOAP APIs, XML, JSON, flat files

  • Collaborate closely with ABAP developers to ensure technical build aligns with design requirements.

  • Supervise interface testing cycles, including unit testing, SIT, UAT, payroll parallel testing, and cutover validation.

  • Ensure timely, quality delivery of integration components with strong focus on performance, stability, and audit readiness.

  • Oversee error-handling frameworks, monitoring dashboards, and secure data exchange mechanisms.

Functional Expertise & CrossTeam Collaboration

  • Apply strong functional knowledge of SAP Payroll, PCC, and HCM process flows to support integration design and troubleshooting.

  • Work collaboratively with Payroll, Time, FI/CO, Benefits, and Infrastructure leads to ensure endtoend alignment.

  • Support issue resolution during payroll cycles; act as an escalation point for integration-related inquiries.

Documentation, Governance & Communication

  • Create and maintain IDDs, technical specifications, test scripts, integration catalogs, and support documentation.

  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders, providing clear updates on risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.

  • Maintain compliance with integration SDLC standards, audit, and data security requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in SAP HCM/HXM integrations, with strong emphasis on U.S. Payroll.

  • Proven hands-on expertise in:

  • Building and managing integrations using SCPI/HCI

  • ABAP-based interfaces: RFC, BAPI, ALE/IDoc, data extraction frameworks

  • REST/SOAP APIs, XML/JSON, secure file transport (SFTP, PGP encryption)

  • Solid functional understanding of Payroll (gross-to-net, tax, remittances), PCC, and P2P processes.

  • Experience delivering at least 5 full lifecycle SAP HCM/Payroll implementations.

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with ability to work independently under tight timelines.

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with experience engaging C-level and vendor partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.

  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, EC Payroll, S/4HANA, Fiori apps.

  • Familiarity with Portal applications, JavaScript, AJAX, and XML technologies.

  • Working knowledge of SDLC methodologies and testing frameworks.

Additional Attributes

  • Proactive, self-driven leader capable of navigating complex technical landscapes.

  • Strong ability to build consensus across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

  • High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality, production-ready solutions.

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, large transformation programs.
