Job Description

Position Summary

The DOI Analyst is a virtual role, embedded within our client. The DOI Analyst supplies and maintains analytical and investigatory services on geopolitical and security developments in the region. Analysts detect, analyse, and advise on adverse conditions that could affect the safety, security, and operational continuity of the client. These conditions include but are not limited to: political instability and unrest, crime, terrorism, and an awareness of cyber threats. 

This role requires the ability to research and analyse a wide range of information and write regular high quality analytical reports to strict deadlines, which deliver insight and value to the client. In addition, the DOI Analyst will engage directly with stakeholders within the client organization to interpret their requirements, provide immediate support and consulting, and leverage depth support from the core Sibylline team. Aside from written analysis, Sibylline expects the embedded analysts to deliver concise and value-driven verbal briefs and partake in stakeholder management. The work will help our clients to make critical decisions about security and operational challenges. The role is fully remote, however, requires the Analyst to work ET hours.

 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plan, research, and create a range of analytical reports delivering actionable insight to internal clients.
  • Analyse and assess risks and threats to people, assets, and reputation across the region, with a focus on global trends in terrorism, organized crime, and extremist activity.
  • Deliver on-call intelligence assessments tailored to client requirements.
  • Network and support the growth of the intelligence function within the client company.
  • Display creative thinking and consulting skills to deliver a continually improving service for the client.
  • Be an effective member of a small team, focused on delivery of lean, high-impact services.
  • Drive a respectful team culture centered on open communication, sharing, listening, and recognition of team members at all levels.
  • Follow company procedures and processes as it relates to global security best practices, and handling of confidential information.
  • Effectively manage the client as an embedded representative of Sibylline’s team, ensuring that they are receiving consistently high standards of support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of global political, security, and socio-economic dynamics, including domestic extremism, regulatory trends, and public safety issues. 
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to process and evaluate large volumes of information quickly and objectively.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Google Workplace, intelligence analysis tools, and the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Experienced in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Outstanding customer service skills across various contexts.
  • Established professional network and background in journalism, intelligence, geopolitics, or security.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach and minimal need for supervision.
  • Previous experience in providing support to security operations preferred.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Studies, International Relations, International Politics, Business Management, or a relevant field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience. Master’s degree, preferred.
  • 2-5+ years of relevant professional experience in an analytical function with demonstrable knowledge in regional terrorist/extremist groups.
  • Work ET time zone hours.
  • Regional foreign language proficiency preferred – ideally Arabic, Spanish or French

Work Environment/Physical Requirements 

This position is moderately self-directed and requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position works in an on-site office environment utilizing a computer and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, and communicate via phone, videophone, or text messaging. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The position may require travel up to 5%.

  • Initial call with our Talent Acquisition team member  

  • Timed written assessment (arranged at the time that suits you) to test writing and analytical capability  

  • Panel interview with some of the team members and hiring managers at Sibylline  

  • Meet and Greet with the client
