Role Description

This position is responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the academic dean. Methodologies include: face-to-face, hybrid, video conferencing, live virtual, and online.

  • Evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures
  • Must meet Minimum Faculty Standards for hire and adhere to college policies and procedures
  • Promote, develop, and deliver quality education programs with the intent to retain students to graduation
  • Demonstrate IWCC’s core mission, vision, and values
  • Meet minimum expectations for use of the college Learning Management System
  • Assess and document student learning outcomes in courses each term in accordance with college policies and procedures
  • Organize and teach labs as assigned by the academic dean
  • Complete required professional development and trainings
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor with all members of the college and community
  • Promote, model, and enforce academic integrity
  • Be available to answer student questions outside of class time
  • Help students achieve their educational and career goals
  • Refer students to college resources
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and Title IX regulations
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • To teach arts and science courses: Master’s degree is required and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline
  • To teach career and technical education (CTE) courses: Depending upon discipline one of the following requirements must be met
  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in the discipline
  • At least 18 undergraduate credit hours in the discipline
  • Associate degree in the discipline if considered terminal and 3000 hours of recent and relevant work experience
  • Special training and 6000 hours of relevant tested work experience
  • Some disciplines require additional licensure or certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people
  • Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer-oriented team
  • Professional in communication, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness
  • Positive attitude
  • Self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision

Physical Demands

  • The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs
