Role Description
The Department of Economic Security, Division of Aging and Adult Services, seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an APS Supervisor. DAAS supports at-risk Arizonans to meet their basic needs and to live safely, with dignity and independence. Services and programs reach a diverse population of Arizonans.
- Supervises a unit of APS Investigators engaged in providing adult protective services.
- Directs, instructs, explains, and counsels subordinate staff.
- Devises a schedule of work, reviews, and evaluates work products of subordinate staff and formulates plans for improvement, if needed.
- Assign cases to staff in accordance with required timeframes and monitor cases to resolution and closure.
- Monitors safety plans of employees, resolves problems and questions presented by staff regarding work methods and/or processes.
- Instructs staff members in the use of a complex system of methods, procedures, rules and regulations utilized by the department.
- Reads, examines, and reviews reports; makes corrections, adjustments, poses questions, and approves; writes detailed reports summarizing activities, transactions, or work products.
- Confers with other staff members to discuss, plan, and determine courses of action in Adult Protective Services cases.
Qualifications
- Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Gerontology, Healthcare, Public Administration or closely related field and 2 years’ professional case management/investigation experience (Intake, Needs Assessment, Service Planning, and Monitoring and Evaluation); OR
- 4 years’ experience providing professional case activities noted above.
- Prefer demonstrated experience in: Supervising, Mentoring, or Standard Work Champion.
Requirements
- In-state travel is required.
- Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license.
- Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process.
- Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry and the Adult Protective Services Registry.
- Each employee of the department who has contact with children or vulnerable adults shall have a valid, unrestricted Level One fingerprint clearance card.
- All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
- Flexibility in willingness to work longer shift hours or after-hours coverage, if necessary.
