Role Description
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in designing, developing, and maintaining COBOL-based applications on mainframe systems.
- Design, code, test, and maintain COBOL programs for mainframe applications
- Work with mainframe systems and associated technologies to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Analyze business requirements and system specifications to develop effective and efficient COBOL solutions
- Identify and troubleshoot issues, providing timely resolutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, systems analysts, and other developers
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all COBOL programs
- Conduct thorough unit testing of developed code
- Identify opportunities for performance optimization and implement necessary improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in COBOL development on mainframe systems; a strong preference for prior Medicaid experience
- Strong knowledge of mainframe technologies and associated tools
- Experience in working on large-scale projects with complex business logic
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality code
