The Web Designer plays a key role in shaping UW‑Green Bay’s digital presence by designing intuitive navigation, page layouts, and graphic elements that bring the University’s mission and brand to life. As part of the Office of Marketing and University Communication, this position helps transform uwgb.edu—our leading marketing and communications channel—into an engaging, accessible, and user‑centered experience.
Working within a collaborative, integrated marketing environment, the Web Designer advances the University’s commitment to access, student success, regional impact, and innovation by developing strategic web initiatives and maintaining design standards that support consistent, compelling communication across the institution.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develops and designs the overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements; ensures that all design elements, templates, and finished solutions work within a variety of browser types and screen settings along with the constraints set by development and design.
- Develops and implements strategic digital media initiatives, priorities, objectives, and best practices in collaboration with leadership and other functional work units.
- Implements graphical and style standards for web sites.
- Provides design maintenance of websites and other electronic publications and applications.
- Serves as a subject matter expert and unit liaison to other departments to design graphics and layouts.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from a 2-year college or Bachelor’s degree university in web or graphic design, digital design, strategic marketing or communication, or related communications or business field.
- Two to five years of experience working as a web designer, UI/UX designer, front-end developer, multimedia designer, digital content producer, or equivalent role.
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and practices for consistent implementation (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA compliance).
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving, team, project and time management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Creative thinking skills with an ability to bring forward new ideas.
Requirements
- Experience migrating websites.
- Demonstrated experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), including technical SEO and GEO knowledge, keyword research, on-page and off-page SEO, and analytics and data interpretation.
- Experience with Google Analytics 4 and DubBot.
