Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Manager to help grow our environmental assessment and regulatory compliance services based out of our Charleston, SC office with the flexibility to work remotely from your home-office within South Carolina. The experienced environmental consultant will help us grow our environmental management practice, lead client development, direct project teams, and develop our professional staff hand in hand with our other senior practitioners. The position will also support environmental assessment and regulatory compliance related to complex civil and environmental projects across the country. This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in leading innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages of environmental projects and multimedia compliance programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. You should expect to work closely with experienced professionals who will help integrate you into Geosyntec’s culture as you advance to this next stage of your career.
We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.
Some of the key responsibilities for this client-facing position include:
- Support Geosyntec’s corporate clients in their compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This role may involve designing and implementing environmental compliance programs and providing guidance on regulatory requirements to minimize environmental risks as well as developing plans and procedures for managing air, water, and waste;
- Develop multimedia permit applications, negotiate permit conditions, and help develop strategies to comply with permit conditions;
- Project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
- Support clients with environmental aspects of transactions, reporting, litigation, and other business decisions;
- Project management and oversight of technical issues/work products; budgeting and budget management; adherence to schedule, quality, health, and safety protocols; client satisfaction; and profitability;
- Recruiting, managing, and mentoring junior staff and mid-career engineers and scientists;
- Reviewing and leading the preparation of technical documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals;
- Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
- At times, the position may also include fieldwork including contractor oversight and process troubleshooting tasks.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred), geology, or another closely related sciences field. (required)
- Advanced degree (same as above). (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., P.Eng.). (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in the consulting industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Proven track record of providing consulting services within the South Carolina market. (required)
- Demonstrated working knowledge of local regulations. (required)
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
- Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients and growing a practice that sustains a group of professional junior staff. (preferred)
- Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills. (preferred)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Strong oral and technical writing skills. (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
