The AWP Safety FP&A Internship Program provides a hands‑on, high‑impact learning experience designed for early‑career professionals who want to build a future in Financial Planning & Analysis. Interns will partner directly with corporate and operational finance leaders on critical projects that support organizational performance, financial accuracy, and strategic decision‑making.
While this internship is primarily project‑based and can be remote depending on location, interns will also have opportunities to collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to understand how financial insights drive real‑world business outcomes.
What You’ll Experience
Real‑World Financial Analysis
- Support the preparation of monthly or quarterly financial report-outs.
- Assist with consolidating data, analyzing variances, and identifying trends that influence business decisions.
- Gain hands‑on experience with budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial modeling.
Operational & Data Exposure
- Partner with Operations, Accounting, HR, and other departments to understand how field and corporate activities translate into financial impact.
- Participate in reviewing financial results tied to workforce planning, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Receive one‑on‑one mentorship from Senior FP&A leaders.
Professional & Team‑Building Activities
- Attend workshops, panels, and intern networking events.
- Participate in our “Journey‑to‑the‑Job” series to hear from seasoned executives, sharing their diverse career paths within the organization.
Job Description
This 10‑week internship with AWP Safety places interns at the center of our FP&A operations, offering meaningful financial work with real organizational impact. Interns may work remotely depending on location, with occasional on‑site collaboration opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and review of financial reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Assisting with monthly forecasting cycles, budget updates, and variance analysis.
- Conducting research and financial modeling for strategic projects and investment decisions.
- Creating and delivering report‑outs on assigned projects to FP&A and business leaders.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional partners—Operations, HR, Safety, Accounting, and Talent Acquisition—to gather data and understand business drivers.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a data‑driven environment, enjoys solving problems through numbers, and wants to build confidence and skill in corporate financial analysis.
Qualifications
- Rising junior enrolled in a bachelor’s program with a focus on Finance, Accounting, or related coursework preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and financial concepts (training will be provided).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present financial findings in a clear, concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Prior experience in finance, accounting, customer service, or data‑focused roles is a plus.
