Job Description
About the role
- We're looking for an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner to join our content quality team as an Expert Question Reviewer for FNP certification exam preparation materials covering both AANP and ANCC formats. You'll validate that questions hit the right difficulty band — advanced practice level without crossing into physician-specialist territory — and that prescribing content accurately reflects NP scope and current clinical guidelines.
- This is a contract position — flexible, remote, and project-based. You'll work independently through our review platform to evaluate questions at your own pace, leaving detailed feedback and comments directly in the tool.
- You're perfect for this role if you're a practicing FNP who knows exactly where the line falls between NP scope and physician-specialist scope. You stay current on clinical guidelines, you've mentored NP students or taught board review, and you have strong opinions about what makes a good exam question. Dual AANP/ANCC certification is a major plus.
What you'll do
- Log into our review portal and work through your assigned FNP question queue at your own pace
- Read each question's clinical stem, differential diagnosis options, and detailed explanation
- Mark each question as Approved, Needs Revision, or Reject with specific comments
- Verify differential diagnosis logic follows current clinical guidelines (USPSTF, AHA, ADA, ACOG)
- Confirm all prescribing content reflects NP prescriptive authority — flag anything that assumes physician-only or specialist-level scope
- Validate drug selection, dosing, titration, monitoring parameters, and controlled substance content against DEA regulations
- Ensure clinical scenarios reflect primary care settings across the full age span (peds through geriatric)
- For AANP-tagged questions: confirm MCQ-only format compliance
- For ANCC-tagged questions: validate hot-spot, ordered-response, and SATA structural correctness
- Flag any content that defaults to physician-level authority or specialist-only medications
Qualifications
- Active APRN license with FNP certification (AANP or ANCC, ideally both)
- DNP preferred
- 5+ yrs primary care practice with prescriptive authority
- Board exam prep teaching or item-writing experience preferred
- Familiarity with both AANP MCQ-only and ANCC interactive item formats
