Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of external client facing enterprise technology based initiatives. This role is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, coordination across business and technical teams, and ensuring predictable outcomes for complex programs.

The Project Manager will work closely with architects, developers, and vendors supporting the IBM Sterling suite and other integration platforms. This is not a technical lead or hands-on configuration role. The position requires sufficient technical fluency to manage scope, risk, and dependencies—while remaining accountable for timelines, communication, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource dependencies.
  • Execute projects using Waterfall methodologies, with clear governance and delivery controls.
  • Manage change requests, track progress, and provide regular status reporting to leadership and stakeholders.

Stakeholder, Vendor & Partner Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between business teams, IT, vendors, and external trading partners.
  • Facilitate requirements discussions and ensure business needs are clearly captured and prioritized.
  • Coordinate work across multiple teams supporting IBM Sterling and related integration platforms.
  • Manage vendor deliverables and ensure alignment with project timelines and SLAs.

Technical Coordination & Oversight (Non-Hands-On)

  • Coordinate delivery across the IBM Sterling ecosystem, including:
    • Sterling B2B Integrator (B2Bi)
    • Sterling File Gateway (SFG)
    • Managed File Transfer (MFT)
    • Sterling Control Center
  • Manage projects involving on-prem and cloud-based platforms, including migration initiatives to Azure Logic Apps or equivalent cloud integration services.
  • Oversee testing, cutover planning, and production readiness without owning technical design or build decisions.

Risk, Quality & Delivery Management

  • Identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints, including impacts to upstream and downstream systems.
  • Drive issue resolution and escalation in partnership with technical and operational teams.
  • Ensure data integrity, security requirements, and operational SLAs are met.
  • Coordinate UAT, certification, and go-live readiness activities.

Documentation, Governance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure consistent creation and maintenance of project artifacts, including project plans, RAID logs, schedules, and stakeholder communications.
  • Partner with technical teams to ensure mapping specifications and standards documentation are complete and approved.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, partner onboarding efficiency, automation, and scalability across the EDI landscape.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience as a Project Manager delivering integration-focused initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional technology projects involving multiple platforms and stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering projects across the IBM Sterling suite (B2Bi, SFG, MFT, Control Center) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading migration, upgrade, and integration programs.

EDI & Integration Knowledge (For Oversight)

  • Strong working knowledge of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT; HIPAA preferred).
  • Familiarity with integration and middleware platforms such as:
    • IBM Sterling (B2Bi, SFG, MFT, Control Center)
    • Azure Logic Apps, BizTalk, MuleSoft, Boomi, or similar
  • Understanding of:
    • Data mapping and translation concepts
    • APIs and common integration patterns
    • File transfer protocols (AS2, SFTP, VAN)
    • Basic database concepts (SQL)

This knowledge is required to manage scope, risk, and communication—not to perform technical design or development.

Project Management Skills

  • Strong command of Waterfall methodologies.
  • Excellent planning, prioritization, and execution discipline.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into clear project impacts, timelines, and decisions.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
