Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiates complex technology transfer agreements with industry or sources of capital investment in university technology.
- Manages an extensive intellectual property portfolio including valuating, marketing and licensing intellectual property, managing patent and/or copyright prosecution, monitoring licensee's obligations under license agreements and instructing the Financial Analyst in the distribution of royalties to the appropriate entities.
- Serves as a liaison with university departments to execute technology transfer agreements.
- Educates the research community on the value of intellectual property and technology transfer.
- Assists the director in the selection of online and other market research tools.
- Trains licensing associate staff regarding Emory's intellectual property portfolio and effective negotiating skills relative to a wide range of industries or potential funding sources.
- Participates in the development of technology transfer policies.
- Maintains professional growth by participating in educational programs and professional organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and developments.
- Adheres to University, state and federal guidelines with respect to technology transfer agreements.
- Manages special projects as required. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A J.D. or a graduate degree in business or a related science discipline.
- Four years of licensing experience in industry or an academic environment. Effective negotiating skills.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
