Construction Practice Leader

 Type: 1099 contract, part-time hourly, remote

Pay: $35-$45

Hours: 20-25 hours per weel

Location: Remote but Atlanta area preferred

Employment Type: Part-Time, 1099 Contractor

Job Summary: The Construction Practice Leader is a senior-level expert responsible for delivering advisory and project-management services, building and leading client teams, implementing operational processes, and driving the growth of Level’s Construction Practice. This role requires deep technical construction expertise, proven operational leadership, and a strong business development mindset.

The Practice Leader works collaboratively across multiple Level practice groups to ensure clients receive integrated, high-quality solutions—while also expanding Level’s market presence through relationships, industry engagement, and proactive pursuit of new opportunities.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Engagement Leadership & Client Delivery

  • Lead and manage construction advisory engagements from initiation through completion.
  • Oversee preconstruction, estimating, and project-planning activities.
  • Provide expert guidance on project setup, budgeting, scheduling, financial controls, and risk mitigation.
  • Support clients with field operations coordination and administrative processes.
  • Build, lead, and manage client-side teams (estimators, project coordinators, PM support, etc.) to ensure effective execution of process improvements and project deliverables.
  • Utilize Microsoft Project to support scheduling, planning, and timeline integration across engagements.
  • Maintain strong, proactive communication with clients to ensure timely, accurate, high-quality delivery.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with other Level practice groups to deliver multidisciplinary advisory solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of internal processes, tools, best practices, and operational frameworks to enhance the Construction Practice.

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Actively lead business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, shaping proposals, presenting Level’s capabilities, and strengthening external brand presence.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships and networks to generate new client opportunities and expand Level’s Construction Practice footprint.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives, service offerings, and go-to-market strategies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial construction.
  • Career progression through roles such as:
  • Project Manager → Senior Project Manager
  • Preconstruction Manager
  • Operations Manager / Director / VP within a commercial general contractor
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
  • Preconstruction and estimating
  • Comprehensive project management across all phases
  • Job costing, cost reporting, and financial controls
  • Coordinating field operations and administrative processes
  • Managing projects typically in the $2–$5 million+ range
  • Experience managing teams, either in a hard-line or dotted-line structure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
