Job Description
Job Summary:
The Structural Designer is responsible for creating and reviewing structural designs for various projects, ensuring they are both efficient and compliant with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and client specifications. Working closely with engineers, architects, and project managers, the designer will produce detailed structural drawings, models, and calculations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Drafting:
- Develop detailed structural designs for buildings, bridges, industrial structures, and other construction projects using software like AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Create structural models and drawings that accurately reflect engineering calculations and project requirements.
- Ensure that designs comply with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with structural engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and practical.
- Technical Analysis:
- Conduct preliminary and detailed structural analysis using tools such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, or other structural analysis software.
- Quality Control:
- Review and verify that all structural drawings are accurate, complete, and adhere to project standards.
- Identify potential issues in designs and suggest improvements to enhance structural integrity.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) preferred.
- Experience:
- 0-3 years of experience in structural design and drafting.
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, etc.).
- Skills:
- understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and engineering principles.
- Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to adapt designs based on project constraints.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
