The AWP Safety Internship Program provides a hands‑on, high‑impact learning experience designed for early professionals who want to build a career in Information Technology. You’ll work directly with our IT App Development team and cross‑functional business partners to deliver solutions that our employees use every day. Along the way, you’ll engage in workshops, leadership panels, and intern networking events as part of our program.
While this internship is primarily project‑based and can be remote depending on location, interns will also have opportunities to collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to understand how technical insights drive real‑world business outcomes.
What You’ll Experience

Job Description
This 10‑week internship places you in the heart of our Application Development practice to rapidly design and deliver business apps on the Microsoft Power Platform. You’ll collaborate with partners in Operations, HR, Finance, and Safety to translate real‑world needs into scalable solutions.
Core Responsibilities
- Rapid Application Development: Design, build, and deploy custom business apps in Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model‑driven).
- AI Pair Programming: Use GitHub Copilot and LLMs (Claude/OpenAI) to author Power Fx formulas, debug logic, and accelerate build cycles.
- Process Automation: Orchestrate workflows in Power Automate, integrating data across systems to streamline operations.
- Prompt Engineering: Craft effective prompts to produce quality UI components, data schemas, and documentation.
Qualifications
- Rising junior/senior or current master’s student.
- Strong interest in low‑code/no‑code with an automation‑first approach.
- AI Literacy preferred: comfortable using LLMs (Claude, GPT) to assist with technical tasks.
- Technical Foundation: Logic and data structures (tables/arrays), some app or coursework experience, and Excel‑like formulas, such as Power Fx, preferred.
- Problem‑Solving & Communication skills: Break down ambiguous business problems; explain “how it works” to non‑technical teammates.
Tools You’ll Master
- Development: Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse
- AI Assistants: GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT
- Collaboration/Dev: Microsoft Teams, Azure DevOps/GitHub
