About the Internship:
Are you interested in developing strong IT project management, information systems, and data-driven problem-solving skills in a public service environment? Join NCDOT’s Enterprise Applications and Technology Services (EATS) team as an intern supporting initiatives across NCDOT, NCDIT–Transportation, and NCDMV. This internship provides hands-on experience in project facilitation, application development, process improvement, and automation, while working with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders.
Interns will support enterprise systems and modernization efforts, gaining exposure to real-world IT project lifecycles, system enhancements, and operational efficiencies in a remote-friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Support IT project management and project facilitation activities, including task coordination, documentation, and status tracking
•Assist with application development initiatives, system enhancements, and functional testing
•Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts, including documentation and workflow optimization
•Collaborate with teams across NCDOT, NCDIT–Transportation, and NCDMV to gather requirements and support solution development
•Assist with data analysis and reporting, including writing and reviewing SQL scripts as needed
•Support system documentation, process mapping, and operational deliverables
•Participate in meetings with technical and business stakeholders to support project planning and execution
•Perform general program and administrative support related to IT initiatives
Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking motivated and analytical students pursuing degrees in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Project Management, or related fields. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership potential, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
•Interest or experience in IT project management, information systems, or application development
•Understanding of process improvement, automation, or systems integration
•Basic knowledge of SQL scripting, data analysis, or reporting tools

Eligibility Requirements:

- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale)
