Role Description

This internship provides hands-on experience in project facilitation, application development, process improvement, and automation, while working with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders.

  • Support IT project management and project facilitation activities, including task coordination, documentation, and status tracking
  • Assist with application development initiatives, system enhancements, and functional testing
  • Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts, including documentation and workflow optimization
  • Collaborate with teams across NCDOT, NCDIT–Transportation, and NCDMV to gather requirements and support solution development
  • Assist with data analysis and reporting, including writing and reviewing SQL scripts as needed
  • Support system documentation, process mapping, and operational deliverables
  • Participate in meetings with technical and business stakeholders to support project planning and execution
  • Perform general program and administrative support related to IT initiatives

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degrees in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Project Management, or related fields
  • Strong leadership potential
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelor's, master's, or professional level program at an accredited institution or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by May 2026
  • 24 credit hours completed
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Has legal right to work in the U.S. and does not need sponsorship
