Job Description
Role Description
This internship provides hands-on experience in project facilitation, application development, process improvement, and automation, while working with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders.
- Support IT project management and project facilitation activities, including task coordination, documentation, and status tracking
- Assist with application development initiatives, system enhancements, and functional testing
- Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts, including documentation and workflow optimization
- Collaborate with teams across NCDOT, NCDIT–Transportation, and NCDMV to gather requirements and support solution development
- Assist with data analysis and reporting, including writing and reviewing SQL scripts as needed
- Support system documentation, process mapping, and operational deliverables
- Participate in meetings with technical and business stakeholders to support project planning and execution
- Perform general program and administrative support related to IT initiatives
Qualifications
- Pursuing degrees in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Project Management, or related fields
- Strong leadership potential
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelor's, master's, or professional level program at an accredited institution or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by May 2026
- 24 credit hours completed
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Has legal right to work in the U.S. and does not need sponsorship
