Role Description

This position will support the Company’s strategic growth as a key member of the Investor Relations team. The position will focus specifically on managing investor relationships and upper-tier closings for various product offerings, including multi-investor, club housing and proprietary tax credit equity funds.

  • Develop and Maintain relationships with LIHTC investors.
  • Act as main point of contact for and manage investment closings into LIHTC funds, and support teammates doing the same.
  • Collaborate with Acquisitions and Fund Management in fund structuring, setting fund parameters, developing timelines and property lists, tracking CRA commitments and monitoring fund characteristics from the investors’ perspective.
  • Recommend related process improvements that enhance interdepartmental coordination.
  • Coordinate internally and with external counsel on the formation of upper tier legal documentation.
  • Manage investor due diligence process - coordinate with Fund Management in completing investor due diligence templates and with Acquisitions/Underwriting in responding to investor due diligence requests/inquiries.
  • Manage investor closing process - coordinate with investors and external counsel in the negotiating and delivery of upper tier fund-related legal documents, gather and track all investor required documents for closing.
  • Act as main point of contact for all communications with investors during the due diligence and closing process.
  • Communicate regularly with internal departments (Acquisitions, Underwriting, Fund Management) throughout the fund due diligence and closing process.
  • Provide timely, efficient and quality responses to investor inquiries.
  • Understand each investor’s business, legal and regulatory approval processes and timing of each.
  • Assist with upper tier business and legal due diligence and closing processes when on-boarding new proprietary investors as needed.
  • Manage individual proprietary funds as opportunities arise.
  • Participate in capital raising efforts as needed.
  • Possess a high level of knowledge of LIHTC program, gain knowledge of Berkadia’s history, performance and overall structure, and stay current on knowledge regarding LIHTC market and trends.
  • Represent Berkadia at industry conferences and investor meetings, and attend Berkadia company meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of prior housing tax credit equity experience.
  • Experience closing tax credit equity funds, including multi-investor funds.
  • Strong communication and excellent writing skills with an ability to interact with individuals in senior-level positions within financial institutions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.
  • Possess good negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative nature and ability to work with a team while maintaining accountability and responsibility for goals as an independent individual.
