Role Description

This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your environmental chemistry expertise in a dynamic, data-driven setting, ensuring that analytical results are accurate, defensible, and compliant with regulatory standards. You will evaluate and validate environmental data, guide project teams, and interact directly with clients to deliver high-quality work products. This position allows you to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, improve workflows through automation, and support the growth of the team and organization. You’ll also play a critical role in mentoring colleagues, enhancing technical standards, and translating complex scientific information into actionable insights. This position offers flexibility with remote or hybrid options across multiple states.

  • Review and validate environmental analytical data to ensure it meets regulatory and methodological standards.
  • Provide scientifically defensible decisions regarding data usability across multiple projects and clients.
  • Communicate technical requirements and custom reporting needs with data analysts to generate project-specific deliverables.
  • Oversee project teams, including data analysts, technicians, and other chemists, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Assist in the preparation and revision of Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), SOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with clients, laboratories, and internal teams to resolve data discrepancies and provide guidance on technical implications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by developing automation tools and optimizing workflow efficiency.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to technical training programs to enhance departmental competency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental chemistry and data validation.
  • Solid environmental laboratory experience and familiarity with analytical methods.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, or local agency data validation guidelines (e.g., US EPA National Functional Guidelines).
  • Proficiency in data management and visualization tools; familiarity with EQuIS DQM is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams, project stakeholders, and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results under deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Willingness to contribute to business development efforts through client engagement and professional networking.
