Role Description
This role involves joining a healthcare team in a fully remote capacity as an Inpatient Coding Specialist.
- Review inpatient medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
- Assign, sequence, validate, and edit DRGs and related abstracted data for inpatient encounters
- Ensure coding accuracy in accordance with coding guidelines, compliance standards, and documentation requirements
- Utilize complete medical record documentation to support accurate code and DRG assignment
- Maintain or exceed established coding productivity and accuracy standards
- Participate in coding quality reviews, audits, and discrepancy resolution
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of acute care hospital inpatient coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG assignment, and POA indicators
- Required certification: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS
- Ability to meet productivity standards (1.8 charts per hour)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT)
- Experience with coding audits and quality reviews
