Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field and three years of related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.

     

 

Job Summary:

To provide the technical skills and expertise required in developing and maintaining computer operating system software of the most complex nature.

 

Job Duties:

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for providing meaning to the data in UTMB systems and developing methods to leverage that data in UTMB applications. Responsibilities include assisting in the standardization and cleaning of data, helping to build prediction models, modeling outcomes, and developing metrics for complex data analysis projects that can be multi-disciplinary or interdepartmental. Addresses data requirements for analytic reporting and operating areas with expertise in specific data systems and/or analytical methodologies.

 

  • Serves in the collection, aggregation, and analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into business performance. Utilizes business intelligence tools to create reports and dashboards, and produces actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement in current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems.

  • Actively participate in the development, implementation, and validation of new predictive models, conduct QA of models’ outcomes, and monitor performance regularly.

  • Uses analytics and metrics to improve processes and provide data-driven forecasts of potential costs, risks, and profits of new business initiatives.

  • Works with CMC IT, ITS colleagues, and internal clients to develop and translate business requirements into project charters, business and technical requirements, and ultimately produce effective and insightful interactive analytics.

  • Actively participates in compiling, cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing data related to department projects. Diagnoses and responds to data integrity and functional or interactive issues in existing and future dashboards quickly and effectively.

  • Formulate validation strategies and methods to ensure accurate and reliable data.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Critical thinking skills to help predict the needs of various business units and leaders across

  • Experience in SQL (Oracle and/or SQL Server)

  • Ability to write SQL queries and stored procedures

  • Ability to develop with ETL tools such as SSIS and/or Informatica

  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, or SAP Business Objects to design and develop reporting analytics and visualizations.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python

  • Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to function with moderate supervision in a fast-paced environment.

 

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

 

Work Schedule:

Remote position. 8 am to 5 pm, and as needed on occasion.

Job Requirements

  • Three years of multi-specialty coding experience.
  • Proficient in coding Professional services, and/or Outpatient professional and hospital technical services.
  • Experience with communicating, training, and educating providers in proficiency.
  • Knowledge of coding guidelines, anatomy and physiology, biology and microbiology, medical terminology and medical abbreviations.
  • One of the following certifications is required:
  • CCA – Certified Coding Associate (AHIMA)
  • CCS – Certified Coding Specialist (AHIMA)
  • CCS-P – Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (AHIMA)
  • RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator (AHIMA)
  • RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician (AHIMA)
  • CIC – Certified Inpatient Coder (AAPC)
  • COC – Certified Outpatient Coder (AAPC)
  • CPC – Certified Professional Coder (AAPC)
  • CPC-A – Certified Professional Coder – Apprentice (AAPC)
  • CRC – Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (AAPC)
