Job Title: Part-Time Outpatient Clinical Supervisor
Pgm/Dept: Residential and Outpatient Services
Reports to: Director of Outpatient Services
Classification: Regular, Part-Time Non-Benefitted, Non-Exempt
Location: Remote
Scheduled Hours: 10-12 hours per week

Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of Outpatient Services, the Part-Time Outpatient Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Registered Associate clinical providers (e.g., ASW, AMFT, APCC) or “practitioners” by providing ongoing clinical supervision and reviewing documentation. Responsible for providing clinical supervision to employee practitioners in both individual, triadic, and group format.
Required Qualifications:
Education
- Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field plus a minimum of five years’ experience working in a community mental health program.
Licensure
- The Licensed Outpatient Clinical Supervisor must maintain a current, unrestricted valid California License from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Must have held that license for at least two (2) years and practiced psychotherapy or directly supervised trainees, interns, or associates that perform clinical services and/or psychotherapy as part of their clinical practice for at least two years within the last five-year period immediately preceding supervision.
- Must have completed a minimum of six (6) hours of supervision training or coursework within two (2) years immediately preceding supervision (or within 60 days of commencement of supervision) and every renewal period thereafter in order to supervise Associate Marriage and Family therapists (AMFT) or trainees (MFTT)
- Must have completed a minimum of 15 contact hours in supervision training prior to the commencement of supervision required for supervisors of Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASW’s).
- Must provide documentation of completion for both the 6-hour and 15-hour courses that must be taken through an accredited or approved school, a state agency, or an approved Continuing Education Provider. A course taken through an on-line approved provider will also be accepted.
- Supervision will consist of individual, triadic and group formats.
Residential/Outpatient Requirements:
- Must have at least two years of experience in community behavioral health setting working with Dual Diagnosis/Specialty Mental Health populations.
- Experience providing Medi-Cal services and working knowledge of CalAIM documentation standards, CQRT processes, and county behavioral health requirements.
- Experience providing constructive, timely feedback identifying strengths and areas of development to practitioners.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Electronic Health Record (E.H.R.) systems. (e.g. Welligent, Credible, Epic)
- Participate in CQRT and have Medi-Cal SMHS experience.
- Ability to prioritize effectively competing demands on time.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule in accordance with client and program needs.
- Solid written skills to meet the required standards of documentation guided by Alameda County, Medi-Cal and internal policy.
Essential Functions/Skills:
- Ability to utilize analysis, objectivity, and clinical judgement to make informed decisions.
- Familiarity and ease working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, and history of trauma.
- A seasoned clinician/administrator who is skillful at training, coaching, and mentoring multidisciplinary staff.
- Ensuring accuracy and quality of clinical documentation in accordance with regulations and best practices with note review.
- Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to a professional code of ethics.
- Demonstrate ability to foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and clinical excellence.
- Must willingly show interest in learning and understanding different perspectives, as well as show self-awareness around race, gender, class, sexual orientation, lived experience and other important attributes.
- Ensure supervisee’s meet all licensure, registration, and documentation requirements by reviewing and co-signing all required clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with Medi-Cal, Alameda County, and agency policies.
- Maintain supervision records and ensure timely signing of supervisee’s hours.
- Maintain adherence to confidentiality and reporting laws, upholds HIPAA standards, and ensures awareness and prevention of Medi-Cal fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Participate in CQRT and other internal or county clinical review processes if requested. Ensure client documentation is accurate and submitted within the established time frame.
- Identify staff training needs and ensure development and implementation of programs that address needs, participate in delivering training sessions to meet the needs of staff related to clinical/program.
- Overseeing and reviewing practitioners' work procedures and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Counseling, motivating and disciplining practitioners, and referring advanced issues to upper management.
- Provide feedback as it relates to the evaluation process of the practitioners.
- Assisting practitioners by supervising complex cases.
- Assisting practitioners with the integration of diversity, equity and inclusion perspectives regarding the delivery of clinical services.
- Supervisor will sign off on supervisee’s hours weekly and /or no less often than monthly.
- Keep current with legal and regulatory requirements for clinical supervision.
- Crisis intervention and consultation as needed.
- Attend meetings as requested to support clinicians or the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requires the ability to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment; to talk and hear in person and by telephone; and to read printed and digital materials.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office or community-based setting with standard lighting, temperature, and noise levels. Some positions may require travel between locations as part of regular duties.
Travel required:
This position requires regular travel to multiple agency and partner locations within the Bay Area. Employees must have reliable transportation and the ability to reach designated sites within reasonable travel times.
