Role Description
This role involves supporting a leading AI lab in advancing frontier AI reasoning systems in astronomy and astrophysics.
- Write original and advanced Olympiad-style astronomy problems designed to challenge frontier AI systems
- Evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness, reasoning quality, and clarity
- Identify logical flaws, incomplete reasoning, or insufficient derivations in AI responses
- Provide clear and correct solutions with detailed reasoning using LaTeX formatting
- Maintain high standards of scientific rigor, accuracy, and difficulty level in all problems
- Contribute structured feedback to improve AI reasoning in astronomy and astrophysics
Qualifications
- Masters or PhD in Astronomy or a related field
- Experience participating in the International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) or equivalent competitions
- Deep understanding of theoretical and observational astronomy and astrophysics
- Strong ability to construct and evaluate rigorous scientific problems
- Excellent written communication and analytical reasoning skills
- High attention to detail in verifying scientific derivations and solutions
- Strong proficiency in LaTeX for writing and formatting scientific documents
Requirements
- Experience writing Olympiad-level astronomy problems
- Academic or research experience in astronomy or astrophysics
- Experience evaluating complex scientific reasoning or mathematical derivations

Contract Details
