About JerseySTEM
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
JerseySTEM has exciting unpaid internship opportunities for individuals interested in 20 hour/week commitment for at least one month, renewable indefinitely. The intern will be responsible for projects relevant to the JerseySTEM mission to deliver after school enrichment classes to underserved kids.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members on department-specific projects
Attend scheduled work sessions and maintain regular communication with your assigned manager
Submit brief written updates on your work daily
Participate in JerseySTEM's communication systems (Slack, G-Suite, etc.)
Maintain a professional demeanor in all internal and external interactions
Notify department head or HR if you encounter any issues connecting with your manager
Time Commitment
- 20 hours/week minimum, for at least 1 month (renewable monthly)
Shifts are flexible and fall within the following time blocks (Eastern Time):
Morning: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Afternoon: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Evening: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM or 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Adjustments can be made to accommodate job interviews or special circumstances.

Qualifications
College or Master’s degree in a relevant field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with digital collaboration tools (Slack, G-Suite, Salesforce, Jira)
Passion for making a positive impact on students' lives
Requirements
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 20 hours/week
- Preferred: Candidates located in New Jersey, as our programs primarily serve local communities.
