We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Full-Stack to provide architectural leadership and hands-on expertise across all layers of our Grading Operations platform. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the stability, performance, and operational excellence of these complex, mission-critical applications and the robust backend services that support them. As a Staff Engineer, you will apply your full-stack expertise to maintain, enhance, and optimize existing systems, tackling complex technical debt and high-impact issues to streamline throughput in a mission-critical environment.
Beyond hands-on development, you will be expected to drive architectural decisions, strategizing on long term technical strategy, and mentor the team. This role is crucial for strategic change, leading complex projects that integrate new technologies like AI/ML solutions and guiding the evolution of our grading workflows as we plan for future system scaling and modernization. You will define how we maximize efficiency and usability across our existing tools, ensuring the technology backbone of our multi-million dollar business is world-class.
What You’ll Do:
Participate across the entire software development lifecycle, taking features from concept to production release
Maintain and extend the current tech stack, primarily .NET C#, with additional solutions in Python and a Vue.js-based frontend.
Communicate with Product and other stakeholders to develop business requirements
Collaboratively create solutions with other teams
Troubleshoot software issues and debug a large codebase
Develop and execute unit and integration tests
Contribute to technical documentation to increase maintainability of software assets
Who You Are:
10+ years of software engineering industry experience building backend software, with exposure to microservices
Experience using Python for production-grade applications
Experience using strongly typed languages (C#, Java, etc) is a plus
Experience architecting systems (service-oriented, event-driven, distributed systems, cloud) as well as hands-on development experience
Familiar with client-side frameworks, such as Vue.js or React.
Data modeling and database design expertise; Postgres and/or SQL Server is a plus
Experience configuring and using DevOps tooling such as Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, AWS stack
Experience working cross-functionally with Product partners
Possess strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to visualize and document processes
Proficient at using appropriate security, documentation, and/or monitoring best practices
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $209,186 - $258,903. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set.
