As a Splunk engineer on our project, you’ll be responsible for assisting with the onboarding, design, performance, implementation, and capacity of the Splunk platform. You’ll coordinate work with in-house teams to identify the right mix of tools and techniques to translate your customer’s Cybersecurity & IT needs and future goals into a plan that will enable secure and effective solutions. We need to come up with the best solution, so you’ll investigate new techniques, break free from the legacy model, and go where the industry is going. You’ll lead the team through a critical approach to network design, providing alternatives and customizing solutions, to maintain a balance of security and business needs. This is a chance to make a difference in the security of National Defense and Shipbuilding. Your technical expertise will be vital as you help customers overcome their most difficult challenges by integrating secure practices like enterprise security. You’ll be able to broaden your skillset into areas like prototyping new ideas and technologies while helping create solutions to drive the next wave of innovation, while building piece of mind in a critical infrastructure. Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

•    Designs optimal data models, builds, and manages summarized datasets, leads performance tuning activities, and designs and develops data APIs.
•    Programs data pipelines and system integrations; optimizes and maintains distributed data flows.
•    Improves data quality and participates in data governance and reliability activities; develops and maintains data catalog; implements data enrichment, data cleansing, and data quality improvements. 
•    Analyzes data to discover tasks that can be automated; identifies process improvements; implements automation; develops prototypes and proofs of concept for the selected solutions
•    Collaborate across the enterprise defining standards for application architectures and best practices.
•    Performs statistical analysis; implements machine learning pipelines in production.
•    Developing/enhancing of applications, associated integrations, and required tests harnesses based on design.
•    Develops systems, integrations, APIs, and solutions that are focused but not limited to engineering.
•    Design, build and manage build and deployment pipelines that handle software lifecycle.
•    Act as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings and communicates and implements a development plan.
•    Works with internal and external stakeholders to support and drive efforts for the translation of data needs into technical system requirements. 
•    Writes clear and detailed technical documentation for complex or difficult projects.

Requirements: I have already done that or have it!

•    2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience
•    +2 years of experience with Splunk engineering, administration, deployment, and maintenance for a large-scale network environment; may consider exception based on expertise. 
•    Experience with Linux and Windows environments
•    Experience with interacting with customers configuration and optimization in Splunk 
•    Experience with using scripting languages to automate tasks and manipulate data 
•    Strong expertise understanding architecture and ability to create, modify, troubleshoot data queries through various data sources
•    Knowledge of enterprise logging, including application, OS, and security technology logging 
•    Ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Requirements

•    Experience with performing systems testing, including auto scaling configurations
•    Experience with AWS and Azure Cloud 
•    Experience with working in a large enterprise environment 
•    Experience with COTS application support 
•    Experience with data life cycle support 
•    Experience with network security, system security, and supporting security information and event management (SIEM) 
•    Experience with infrastructure management and support and system administration in Windows and UNIX environments 
•    Experience with security tools, including Firewall, IDS, and Active Directory 
•    Splunk Administrator Certification

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
