Role Description
Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Software Engineering Intern!
Software Engineering Intern solves business needs by building quality software with guidance from senior engineering team members.
- Develop secure, high quality, performant scalable code, using the required programming language and tools.
- Assist in the design and development of software solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in requirements definition, design walkthroughs, and code reviews.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
- Debug and troubleshoot software issues, providing timely resolutions.
- Define and perform unit testing of code. Support functional and regression testing efforts.
- Work closely with senior engineers to enhance your technical skills and understanding of software development methodologies.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled full-time and pursuing a Bachelor's or master’s in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
- Programming experience with C#. Experience with other object-oriented languages like Java or Python.
- In-depth knowledge of architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
- Experience with Database technologies.
- Hands-on experience building systems in one or more cloud providers – AWS, Azure, GCP.
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the SDLC (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
