Role Description
Join our talented Banner Health Coding team of Outpatient Coders where great careers are built. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Associate Director of Acute Care Medical Coding Leader to join our high-performing Outpatient team that consistently meets stretch goals. This leadership position involves managing special projects alongside day-to-day operational activities, such as facilitating meetings between coding operations and physician teams.
- Manage designated medical coding teams across multiple locations.
- Achieve business unit goals in areas such as unbilled accounts receivable, compliance, data integrity, Case Mix Index (CMI), and reimbursement with third party payors.
- Collaborate with Health Information Management System (HIMS) leadership to achieve financial and revenue cycle goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, or related field.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) in active status with AHIMA or AAPC.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) preferred in the ambulatory setting.
- Three or more years of progressive coding leadership experience, preferably within a major health care organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Thorough knowledge of computer applications and their applicability to coding.
Requirements
- Select, train, coach, and evaluate coding staff.
- Participate in the development of the department budget and ensure budgetary goals are met.
- Drive organization performance improvements through coding scorecard monitoring.
- Establish coding quality, productivity, and best practices with other leaders.
- Develop standard coding policies/procedures/guidelines for compliance.
- Monitor data integrity and perform staff training and education.
- Stay updated on new medical technologies and regulatory changes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and coding accuracy.
