Role Description
This position will work with Iowa Donor Network hospital partners to remotely manage triage and initial clinical evaluation for organ, eye, and tissue donation opportunities. Daily activities include collaboration with donor hospital staff, medical examiners, and other essential stakeholders.
- Support the donation process by triaging the medical evaluation of all vented and non-vented referrals.
- Complete an effective medical evaluation of eye referrals.
- Provide the Organ Resource Supervisor with a thorough organ chart review for donor suitability, determination, and medical management.
- Collaborate with the Referral Response Coordinator to manage updates in changing medical information.
- Ensure effective verbal and written communication and collaboration with hospital staff, physicians, related donation agencies, and other Iowa Donor Network team members to maximize organ and tissue donation.
- Participate in process improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Record and submit referral and case data for process improvement analysis and industry standards.
Qualifications
- A combination of education and equivalent field experience in a clinical setting (i.e., Licensed RN, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, or another applicable field).
- Two-year degree or equivalent experience in a hospital setting required.
- Experience with organ, tissue, or eye donation preferred.
