Role Description
MGO is growing, and we're looking to add an experienced, motivated, and dedicated Corporate Tax Manager with a strong background in federal and state corporate tax compliance, planning, and advisory services. The Corporate Tax Manager will perform advanced-level corporate tax functions, lead engagements, and guide staff while serving as a primary client contact on complex corporate tax matters. This role includes:
- Advising clients on the tax implications of business strategies.
- Evaluating opportunities to reduce corporate tax exposure.
- Ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
- Identifying risks related to corporate tax law changes.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple corporate tax engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; Master of Tax preferred.
- 5+ years of corporate tax experience in a public accounting firm or similar environment.
- CPA license required; MBA, JD, or LLM may substitute.
- Prior experience supervising and developing staff strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Highly motivated and capable of managing multiple corporate clients and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Requirements
- Prepare and review federal and state corporate income tax returns and supporting documentation.
- Review and analyze corporate tax provisions (ASC 740), including quarterly and annual tax accounting calculations.
- Ensure accurate preparation and review of estimated tax payments, extensions, and related corporate filings.
- Maintain strong command of IRC sections and regulations relevant to C‑corporations, consolidated returns, and corporate transactions.
- Research complex corporate tax issues and clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
- Advise clients on corporate tax implications of business strategies, restructuring, M&A activity, and entity planning.
- Identify opportunities for tax optimization, reduction of tax liability, and improving efficiency in tax compliance processes.
- Respond to corporate tax authority notices and oversee corporate tax controversy and representation matters.
- Stay updated on changes in corporate tax laws and regulations impacting client businesses.
- Lead and manage multiple corporate tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and seniors; provide constructive and timely feedback.
- Manage client relationships with proactive communication and exceptional service delivery.
- Oversee billing, fee analysis, and identification of new corporate tax service opportunities.
- Support execution of firm growth initiatives, including pipeline management and client outreach.
- Provide “LMA” (Leading, Managing, and Holding People Accountable) for engagement teams.
- Prepare staff and seniors for advancement through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure engagement quality control and adherence to technical and firm standards.
- Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Assist in identifying and expanding corporate tax business development opportunities.

- Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 + Bonus program where you can earn up to 10% of your base salary per year.
