Role Description

The Senior Credit Policy Analyst is responsible for assessing GSE guidelines, analyzing data, monitoring industry changes, recommending, implementing, documenting, and communicating origination, servicing, and loss management policies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate GSE selling policy guide announcements and competitor guidelines to determine risks and impacts and recommend credit, servicing and loss management policy changes to leadership.
  • Manage updates to underwriting guidelines, eligibility matrices, and servicing guidelines, and prepare internal communications for key stakeholders as well as external updates for lenders and the GSEs.
  • Serve as an escalation point for credit and servicing exception requests.
  • Conduct independent research and analysis of policy, data, and operational processes, and present recommendations to management to enhance clarity and streamline policy documentation.
  • Partner with business leaders across the organization to coordinate and implement approved policy changes.
  • Support cross-functional projects to implement policy changes by participating in requirements and user acceptance testing sessions to ensure system functionality matches policy.
  • Serve as a backup for the AVP, Credit Risk Management, by managing escalations for credit and servicing exception requests, leading team members through exception decisioning, partnering with stakeholders to resolve issues, and elevating critical matters to VP, Credit Policy and Risk Operations for timely resolution, when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience.
  • 5 or more years of prior work-related experience.
  • Prior work experience in the insurance, financial services, or mortgage banking field required; credit policy, loan processing or underwriting experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage origination and servicing processes, mortgage insurance products, GSE underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills: Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Salesforce, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Copilot.
  • Ability to support multiple assignments and stakeholders, prioritize workload, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with varying levels within the organization.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically; must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced communication skills.

Benefits

  • Anticipated base salary from $70,000 to $106,000 based on skills and experience. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
  • This role is eligible for 20 days of paid time off annually, which is prorated in the year of hire based on hire date. In addition, based on your hire date, you will be eligible for 9 paid holidays + 2 floating holidays.
