Responsibilities
Your Role:
The Category Manager is on the Target team, you will provide category advisor and captain support to one of our largest and most strategic retail partners by delivering category and guest insights, industry trend analysis, and space optimization recommendations that drive growth across Target’s omnichannel ecosystem.

- Own category management responsibilities for one or more categories, operating at the Category Captain level in at least one category.
- Deliver category and guest insights using internal data and syndicated data to support assortment decisions, item distribution, planogram (POG) development, space optimization, industry and market trends, and pricing strategies.
- Partner closely with Target merchants and internal cross-functional teams (Shopper Insights, Replenishment, Supply Chain) to support Target’s category strategies with clear, data-driven recommendations.
- Build strong internal and external relationships focused on the Target business, with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, and alignment to Target priorities to drive profitable, sustainable growth.
- Stay current on guest trends, retail and economic conditions, Target initiatives, competitive activity, and historical learnings to provide fact-based decision support to internal teams and Target partners.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on guest behavior and category performance, providing recommendations that influence assortment, shelving, merchandising, and long-term category growth strategies.
- Support and deliver training for cross-functional teams on Category Management fundamentals, including guest dynamics, syndicated data interpretation, market structures, and actionable insights.

Qualifications
We need you to have:
- BA/BS degree in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive Category Management and/or analytical experience within a CPG manufacturer or brokerage environment.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong working knowledge of Target-specific customer systems and data platforms (e.g., Target item, modular, and reporting tools).
- Experience with space planning and planogram software (e.g., JDA/Blue Yonder or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data to develop clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to influence across a cross-functional, matrixed organization.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with experience engaging both internal stakeholders and external retail partners.

Posted Salary Range
USD $120,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /ABonus Eligibility
