This role enables the Chair to operate at maximum effectiveness by managing strategic initiatives, internal communications, and operational rhythms.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Partner with the Chair to define and track strategic priorities, ensuring alignment across the leadership team and WTA Tour/WTA Ventures.
- Translate long-term strategic priorities into clear annual OKRs and measurable initiatives.
- Manage the interface between WTA and WTA Ventures, ensuring commercial goals (media rights, sponsorship, innovation) stay connected to player and tournament priorities.
- Oversee special projects such as global expansion, new tournament frameworks, or revenue diversification initiatives.
- Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives from conception through successful execution.
- Monitor performance metrics and organizational health indicators; prepare executive-level analyses and recommendations.
- Anticipate issues and proactively surface insights, data, or solutions to support decision-making.
-
Executive Office Management
- Manage the flow of information, decisions, and communications in and out of the Chair's office.
- Cascade priorities through the organization and ensure consistent global messaging.
- Prioritize and coordinate the Chair's agenda, ensuring effective use of time and focus on the most impactful activities.
- Prepare briefing materials, analyses, talking points, and reports for internal and external meetings.
- Serve as the liaison between the Chair and senior leadership, ensuring follow-through on commitments and decisions.
- Drive the operating cadence — leadership meetings, quarterly business reviews, and key communications between ELT, SLT, and regional offices.
- Identify and remove roadblocks across functions (e.g., player services, competition, media, partnerships).
- Lead cross-functional “glue” projects, from process design to change management.
-
Leadership Team & Board Engagement/Governance
- Coordinate leadership team meetings, offsites, and key planning sessions, setting agendas, facilitating discussions, and tracking outcomes.
- Lead Board meeting preparation, including materials, presentations, and follow-up actions.
- Lead communication between Chair and Board.
- Foster communication and collaboration across leadership and functional areas.
- Serve as chief liaison to the WTA Board — shaping agendas, synthesizing materials, managing follow-ups, and ensuring decisions are actionable.
- Build structure around Board and Committee engagement (including players, tournaments, federations, and external partners).
- Ensure alignment between Valerie’s office, the Board, and the global tournament network; maintain confidentiality and disciplined messaging.
-
Special Projects & Initiatives
- Lead time-sensitive or confidential projects on behalf of the Chair.
- Evaluate business opportunities, partnerships, or operational improvements as delegated.
- Drive implementation of organizational initiatives that improve efficiency, culture, and impact.
