Role Description

The Director of Capital Markets will lead the structuring, execution, and management of project and corporate financings across our U.S. solar and storage pipeline. This role will build and maintain relationships with lenders, tax equity investors, infrastructure funds, and other capital partners, while driving optimal capital strategies to support growth.

The Director will operate both strategically and hands-on, designing capital structures at early development stages and managing transactions through financial close, collaborating closely with Development, M&A, Accounting, Legal, and Executive teams.

Essential Functions

  • Lead structuring and execution of construction to term debt, bridge loans, LC facilities, tax equity (partnership flip, transferability), and portfolio-level corporate financings.
  • Manage transaction process from end-to-end, including securing financing partners, overseeing financial valuation, presenting risk analysis and investment thesis, owning transaction structuring, negotiations, documentation and closing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banks, tax equity investors, private credit funds, and rating agencies; expand the company’s capital network.
  • Monitor capital markets trends, including debt spreads, tax equity appetite, and IRA/OBBA-related structures, providing strategic guidance to leadership.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Development, M&A, Execution, Asset Management, and accounting teams to ensure financeable project structures and accurate cash modeling.
  • Lead sale-side transactions, including portfolio or single-asset divestitures, and support execution of asset rotation strategies to optimize capital deployment.
  • Mentor junior team members and support internal capital markets capabilities.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to prepare and deliver analyses and conclusions on the financial impact of various development strategies and financial structuring.
  • Lead outreach and analysis on evolving issues in the market that have significant financial implications on projects and the company.
  • Support CFO in capital planning, forecasting, scenario planning, and ad-hoc finance functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years in U.S. renewable project finance, infrastructure finance, investment banking, or infrastructure private equity with a capital markets focus.
  • Strong business and financial savvy with the ability to support a high-performance organization.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Diligent, detail-oriented, and dynamic. Able to self-organize priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to self-direct, flexibility, creativity, desire to grow into additional responsibilities as the company expands.
  • Experience with team leadership, mentoring and guiding junior team members.
  • Strong understanding of M&A (sell-side) underwriting, structuring, and execution.
  • Preference for experience in the renewable or energy storage industry and understanding of renewable development.
  • Fluency in project development, including interconnection process and permitting, project financing structures, offtake contracts and power marketing.
  • Experience as the point person driving closings with both tax equity investors and lenders.
  • Advanced knowledge of tax partnership rules and modeling methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage specific timelines and economic outcomes.
  • Extensive knowledge and capabilities to work in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Finance, Business, Engineering, Math, Science, or other rigorously quantitative field.
