Role Description
As a Principal Data Center Infrastructure Management Delivery Engineer (DCIM-DE) , you will serve as the design authority and standards leader for QTS’s DCIM platforms. Your work will ensure consistency, reliability, and scalability in systems that power QTS’s global infrastructure.
- Lead development and refinement of the DCIM Basis of Design (BOD) and owner requirements.
- Manage and onboard AEOR Controls teams and Design System Integrators (DSI); conduct business reviews and calibration sessions.
- Direct design consultants and partners on architecture, instrumentation, alarming, and integration requirements.
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide controls and alarming standards across BMS/EPMS/SCADA platforms.
- Define product and platform requirements for Aveva System Platform, Ignition, and open I/O frameworks.
- Review sequences of operations, system architecture, and P&ID diagrams.
- Establish point naming conventions, alarming logic, historical data trending, and DCIM integration schemas.
- Oversee QA/QC during design, deployment, and commissioning phases.
- Drive digital twin and simulation initiatives to validate controls logic pre-deployment.
- Support procurement and project teams with SOW creation, RFP responses, and vendor onboarding.
- Serve as technical escalation point for DCIM execution issues.
- Influence control panel layout, I/O wiring diagrams, system interlocks, and cable schedules.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, IT, and construction teams to align controls with project goals.
- Manage design change requests, RFIs, and updates to DCIM documentation.
- Contribute to alarm optimization initiatives using FMEA methodology.
- Mentor regional engineers and partners on QTS standards and quality expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience with control systems in mission-critical environments (data centers, N+1 design).
- Expert-level knowledge of EPMS, BMS, and SCADA platforms.
- Experience with Rockwell, Schneider Electric, Siemens PLC platforms.
- Proficiency in BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, TCP/IP, SNMP, and ISO 16484 standards.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage partner deliverables.
- Strong understanding of sequences of operations, instrumentation documentation, and alarm hierarchy design.
- Ability to travel up to 50% and work across multiple time zones.
Requirements
- Rockwell and Ignition certifications.
- Experience with psychrometries, thermodynamics, and data center mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with factory/software acceptance testing.
- Familiarity with digital twin platforms and high-fidelity simulation.
- Working knowledge of SQL, ServiceNow, and Active Directory.
- Strong documentation skills for engineering diagrams and control logic.
