Role Description

Ontra is seeking a Director, User Experience reporting to our Vice President, User Experience. For this job, we are currently only hiring candidates based in the United States.

We’re looking for someone excited to lead innovative UX strategies, collaborate effectively with leadership partners, and empower development teams to transform the user experience landscape for our Platform projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Player/Coach Leadership: Guide the Platform UX team, fostering a culture of agile iteration, growth and innovation. This role will be very hands on, jumping in as needed to help with capacity and potentially taking a team full time.
  • UX & AI Strategy Development: Drive the creation and execution of user experience strategies for platform experiences that align with company objectives and drive customer value. We’d specifically love for this role to bring experience building AI features.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with leadership partners to ensure development teams are empowered with insights and resources they need to succeed.
  • Prioritization Input: Provide critical information and insights to help prioritize development tasks and strategies effectively.
  • Challenge Readiness: Embrace challenges confidently, ensuring the team remains adaptable and open to innovative solutions.
  • Product Enhancement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of user experience across all platforms to elevate overall customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in user experience roles, with a minimum of 5+ years as an individual contributor (IC) and ideally 2+ years as a director.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including at least 2 years in a director-level position managing teams and projects.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design practices and proficiency in applying design systems.
  • Expertise in conducting both qualitative and quantitative UX research and analytics to inform design decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability in product strategy and possessing strong business acumen to align design initiatives with business goals.
  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring team members to develop their skills and advance their careers.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams to drive user experience initiatives.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools to enhance research, ideation, prototyping, and workflow efficiency.

Requirements

  • Base Pay Range: $224,000 — $336,000 USD
  • Hiring Locations: United States (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington)
  • Occasional travel is required for Ontra employees, including typically at least twice per year to attend team and larger group off-sites for in-person collaboration.
