You are passionate about transforming complex data into actionable insights and tools that make people more efficient. You thrive on the challenge of gathering, cleaning, and analyzing diverse data sources to find the "hidden truth" that drives real customer value. Your ideal role involves using a blend of computer science, statistics, and machine learning to translate information security data into organizational knowledge. While you enjoy research, you get the most energy from seeing your work—from predictive models to Gen AI applications—directly impact cybersecurity outcomes.
We’re looking for a Data Scientist who wants to automate routine decisions and empower our humans to be more efficient. You’ll work alongside our Detection and Response (D&R) Engineering and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to deliver quick, iterative wins that improve how we detect and investigate cybersecurity incidents.

Qualifications
- Ability and desire to collaborate and work with teams throughout the organization to foster research and innovation
- Ability to communicate technical data science concepts to various audiences, especially non-data science experts
- Passion for finding order and meaning in large, chaotic data sets and amorphous problem domains
- Deep proficiency with Python (pandas, numpy, sklearn) and SQL for model development
- Knowledge of statistics (distributions, hypothesis testing, probability, etc.)
- Proficiency in popular data science and visualization frameworks such as scikit-learn, plotly, pandas, and numpy, and the underlying statistics that drive them
- Understanding of data engineering and proven experience with cloud deployment best practices
- 3+ years of data science experience creating models, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, recommending next steps, and summarizing key results to stakeholders
- A Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience in AI/ML)

- Work across our operations, engineering, and service delivery teams, ensuring Expel can easily deploy, monitor, and manage all of our machine learning capabilities
- Drive business decisions by translating data insights into clear, actionable knowledge for the organization
- Foster an atmosphere of experimentation, continuous learning, and improvement
- Maintain and enhance our existing models while supporting new data science initiatives
- Contribute to Expel’s external voice through blog posts and conference speaking
