Role Description
The State of Alaska, Department of Administration, Division of Finance, is seeking an experienced Senior HRIS Analyst / Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in supporting Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) in a government organization and proven ability to work collaboratively with human resource and payroll business stakeholders and technical teams.
The HRIS Analyst / Programmer will be responsible for:
- Representing and advocating for the needs of the state’s HRIS both within the Division of Finance as well as with other state agencies and providing technical assistance to organizations outside of the Division who need to receive or provide information about HR and payroll.
- Acting as team lead or supervisor, providing guidance and direction to other HRIS team members and contractors, implementing HRIS projects, monitoring contractual services and overseeing payroll production processing.
- Analyzing complex and mission-critical requirements and determining how these requirements can best be met using the state’s HRIS.
- Analyzing the effect of proposed or enacted legislation on the HRIS and serve as a consultant to management in the determination of the feasibility of implementing proposed changes.

- Technical Documentation: Knowledge of procedures for developing technical and operational support documentation.
- Teaching Others: Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor.
- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results; determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work; accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions.
Requirements
- Six years of computer programming experience, of which at least two years were at the project leader or systems design level.
- Two years of experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.
