Role Description

Winpak is seeking an Area Sales Manager based in California, USA (Remote Position) to support our Protein West Sales Team. As part of the Sales team, you will report to the Regional Sales Manager and represent Winpak’s image in the marketplace in a highly professional manner. With a focus on building relationships, you are responsible for sourcing new packaging business at protein prospects in accordance with stated target markets and products. Your excellent communication skills and high level of service will be integral to maintaining long-term customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by effectively managing changes in order requirements, timelines, and product specifications within a dynamic industry.
  • Prepare and process customer orders to ensure products are produced and shipped according to customer expectations.
  • Maintain pricing consistency in line with published guidelines or customer quotations.
  • Collaborate with the Winpak Graphics Department to provide relevant information for customer graphic requests.
  • Obtain approval for any deviations from standard terms before accepting customer orders.
  • Manage territory inventory in compliance with company policies and special agreements.
  • Assist in the collection of receivables and ensure accurate and timely completion of expense reports.
  • Communicate changes in orders or requirements, such as lead times, product changes, or order size, to both customers and head office.
  • Address customer complaints promptly and coordinate corrective action with the appropriate personnel.
  • Travel as necessary within the assigned territory to maximize sales opportunities, provide sales forecasts, and attend trade shows and seminars, while maintaining adherence to budget and company policies.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a role that required you to identify and pursue sales opportunities, close deals, and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • 5+ years of experience building long-term client relationships in a business-to-business (B2B) environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in a role that required cultivating and nurturing client relationships, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to track sales activity, customer interactions, and sales pipeline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resin materials, with the ability to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses for different applications.
  • Thorough understanding of thermoforming and various plastic manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with a preference for Business, Marketing, Packaging Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in the packaging industry, with a preference for supporting perishable food products.
  • 3+ years of experience collaborating with internal teams (e.g., production, logistics, sales support) to deliver the best outcomes for clients.

Additional Details

  • Must be able to travel as required to meet with clients, attend trade shows, and oversee sales activities within the assigned territory.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for travel purposes.
  • The salary range for this position is $133,000 - $166,000 annually.
