Role Description

Our captive actuarial practice is looking for an experienced P&C Actuary who will manage the timely and accurate delivery of various types of actuarial analyses to a large portfolio of captive and self-insured clients.

What can you expect? Joining a team of Actuarial Consultants and Actuarial Analysts, specialized in the delivery of client engagements such as:

  • Evaluations of unpaid claims liabilities
  • Statements of Actuarial Opinion
  • Loss funding and payout projections
  • Ratemaking
  • Captive feasibility studies
  • Retention optimization
  • Risk transfer opinions
  • Premium allocations
  • Commutation valuations
  • Parent company self-retained liability analyses
  • M&A due diligence
  • Cost allocations
  • Capital analyses

Managing actuarial projects from start to finish, including:

  • Ensuring quality and timeliness of client deliverables
  • Developing budgets and billing reports
  • Acting as senior client contact
  • Preparing/delivering concise communications and results to client

Acting as a mentor to junior actuarial staff and overseeing their basic actuarial work.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Actuarial credentials (ACAS or FCAS) required
  • Qualification under US standards to sign P/C Statements of Actuarial Opinion
  • Five or more years of relevant actuarial experience, preferably in a consulting environment
  • An expert level of understanding of property & casualty insurance products and actuarial skills
  • Superior analytical and mathematical skills, strong command of Excel
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated record of building trusted relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple and complex tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills with desire to develop
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and mentor more junior level staff
  • Property pricing experience
