Role Description
The Data Platform Engineer role partners directly with our Data Architect to continue developing, governing, and expanding our Microsoft Fabric and Power BI data environment.
This role provides hands-on engineering, operational discipline, monitoring, and enablement required to turn our Datahub into a reliable, scalable, and well-governed platform that the business can depend on.
This is a platform engineering role focused on implementing standards, CI/CD, observability, data validation, documentation, and business enablement across the Fabric-based Datahub, with Power BI report generation as needed. This is a remote opportunity.
Responsibilities

- Implement version control and deployment processes for PowerBI/Fabric artifacts
- Establish observability across data pipelines (failures, latency, data quality)
- Develop data validation and reconciliation processes for payer and operational reporting
- Partner with analysts and business teams to enable governed self-service analytics
- Work with DBAs and application teams to trace lineage from source systems to reporting layers
- Translate architectural standards from the Data Architect into repeatable engineering practices
- Provide technical directions to offshore data resources
- Optimize performance and cost of Fabric workloads
- Support audit, compliance, and documentation requirements for data flows
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, or cloud data infrastructure
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as dbt, Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Datadog (preferred), Grafana, Splunk, AppDynamics)
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Experience with CI/CD, version control, and infrastructure-as-code concepts
- Understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and validation techniques
- Experience working in Azure (preferred), GCP, or AWS environments
- Strong documentation and cross-team communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with healthcare payer data, particularly claims, eligibility, and insurance-related datasets
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or PowerBI administration
- Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes
- Experience working alongside data architects to implement platform standards
- Experience working with offshore development teams
- Familiarity with healthcare data, claims data, or payer integrations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
