The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Benefits and Eligibility Manager. The Benefits and Eligibility Manager will manage professional employees and/or supervisors or supervises large, complex support, production, or operations team(s) within a call center environment. This position adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Serves as a manager, which includes planning, directing subordinate supervisors, assigned staff, and interpreting policy.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

| Job Duties: |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Must supervise subordinate supervisors but may also supervise other assigned staff. Manage the daily work activities of a program or multiple programs, directly or through subordinate supervisors.
- Establishes performance levels, communicating goals and performance expectations, and monitoring and reviewing work to ensure conformance to established policies and procedures, and standards for quality and timeliness.
- Participate in statewide service delivery planning, development and implementation to ensure program responsiveness to customer needs within available resources.
- Implement new program services and provide feedback regarding proposed changes, compile, analyze and report statistical data, advise administration of potential problem areas.
- Attends meetings and serves on advisory committees to enhance the delivery of eligibility/referral specialist services to the agency’s clients.
- Provides technical assistance and direction bases on research, analysis and interpretation of program rules and regulations. Conducts and/or coordinates staff training appropriate to program area.
| Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- Fundamental leadership practices.
- Program development, administration, and service delivery related to the program or programs in the area of responsibility, which may include employment services, eligibility, provider and/or social services.
- Program services used to conduct quality control reviews.
Skills in:
- Written and verbal communication to explain and interpret Federal and State laws, statutes, rules, regulations, and guidelines applicable to the area of assignment.
Ability to:
- Resolve program relates issues.
- Provide technical assistance to staff.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal management and staff, and with a variety of external stakeholders.
- Identify, analyze, and evaluate situations or problems to determine appropriate courses of action.
| Selective Preference(s): |
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Two years of supervisory level experience performing eligibility work with FAA systems.

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
