Would you like to work with a supportive group of people? Performance Validation is seeking a Staff Commissioning Engineer/Specialist to partner with our team and provide support with the building delivery process from the design phase through post occupancy. The commissioning professional works closely with a wide range of individuals including building occupants, maintenance staff, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers and building inspectors. This position is in Tacoma, Washington supporting west coast states including Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Hawaii, and Alaska. When not on client project sites, remote work is an option. This engineer role is deemed a safety sensitive position. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of commissioning specifications and perform reviews of system designs and submittals.
- Assist with the development of commissioning plans including functional performance tests scripts.
- Verify proper system installation and performance.
- Develop systems manuals and conduct post occupancy reviews and fully document all activities.
Requirements you will need
Education:
BS degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) or another related field. Knowledge of construction industry and building systems a plus but not required.
Experience:
- Self-starter who exhibits a professional demeanor, enthusiasm, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Must interact confidently with clients, other contractors, and employees.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Technical aptitude and a desire to learn.
- Demonstrable interest in the building sciences, particularly commissioning.
