Role Description

The Vice President, Commercial Specialty Market Development is responsible for identifying, developing, and scaling strategic growth opportunities within the rare and orphan targeted specialty markets. This executive leader drives market expansion by building go-to-market strategies, forming strategic partnerships, and aligning cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of the rare and orphan specialty customer segments.

The role requires a combination of strategic vision, deep market insight, and strong commercial execution to accelerate revenue growth, expand market share, and position the company as a leader in rare and orphan market segments.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Rare and Orphan Drug Market Development
    • Identify and prioritize high-value rare and orphan specialty drug markets aligned with the company’s long-term growth strategy.
    • Develop and execute market entry and expansion strategies for new and emerging segments.
    • Conduct market analysis to understand customer needs, competitive landscape, regulatory considerations, and growth potential.
    • Build multi-year strategic plans to capture opportunities within specialty verticals.
  • Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth in the Rare and Orphan Specialty Drug Market
    • Design and implement go-to-market strategies tailored to specialty market customers.
    • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to build offerings that meet segment-specific requirements.
    • Drive pipeline generation and revenue growth across targeted markets.
    • Establish pricing, positioning, and value propositions that resonate with specialty market buyers.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Lead cross-functional collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Operations, and Finance.
    • Translate market insights into actionable product, service, and commercialization strategies.
    • Ensure alignment between corporate strategy and specialty market initiatives.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
    • Identify and develop strategic partnerships, alliances, and channel relationships to accelerate market penetration.
    • Represent the organization with key industry groups, partners, and customers.
    • Negotiate and structure partnership agreements that create long-term strategic value.
  • Rare and Orphan Pharmacy Customer & Market Intelligence
    • Develop deep relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders in specialty markets.
    • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive activities.
    • Translate insights into strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Performance Management
    • Establish KPIs and metrics to track rare and orphan drug market development performance.
    • Manage budgets and resource allocation to maximize ROI.
    • Deliver regular executive updates on progress, opportunities, and risks.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position.
    • Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
    • Comply with VytlOne’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and VytlOne’s Compliance.
    • Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
    • Complete required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience in conceptualizing and executing commercial strategies, business development, or market development.
  • Proven track record of launching or expanding businesses in rare and orphan specialty drug marketplace.
  • Experience developing go-to market strategies and driving measurable growth.
  • Background working in complex B2B environments preferred.
