Role Description

The Software License Compliance Manager is responsible for accurately capturing and analyzing Quest customers’ deployed software licenses. This role partners closely with teams across IT, Finance, Sales, and Procurement to collect and interpret data from multiple systems. Insights from this work determine whether customers are properly licensed relative to their entitlements. Success in this role requires strong data management and analytical capabilities, supported by an enterprise software asset management system aligned to Quest’s License Compliance policies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective relationships across diverse functions and organizational levels; engage cross‑functional teams to drive collaborative efforts.
  • Operate successfully in a virtual and global environment, maintaining flexibility amid evolving priorities.
  • Apply strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations and ensure accountability.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of intellectual capital through the creation and refinement of standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of software deployment and entitlement rights for Quest‑licensed products.
  • Communicate license allocation methodologies clearly and accurately.
  • Execute tasks that produce reporting, metrics, and analyses related to software usage and entitlements.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in software license compliance or comparable legal/compliance roles; Juris Doctorate strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or proven success in software license or audit roles, including:
    • Expertise in software license metrics, compliance tools, industry‑leading practices, and licensing policies.
    • Familiarity with IT, IT procurement, software licensing operations, IT Service Management, and SAM processes.
    • Understanding of the IT sourcing and procurement lifecycle; ability to interpret and negotiate software licensing terms and policies.
    • Experience working with enterprise software license agreements across perpetual, subscription, and cloud models.
    • Knowledge of major supplier licensing terminology, policies, and models (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, VMware).
    • Understanding of deployment and distribution models for multi‑platform software applications.
