Role Description
The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is looking to hire a Beat Writer to follow, interview, report, and storytell around the Boston Cannons. The Beat Writer will be responsible for:
- Identifying key storylines
- Spotlighting superstar players
- Preparing pre- and post-game coverage
This candidate must be a strong interpersonal communicator and a passionate storyteller. The ideal candidate will create consistent and authentic content, while providing fans with increased access to their favorite club.
Qualifications
- Strong writing skills
- Experience in 1-on-1 interviews and press conferences
- Knowledge of the league landscape and player movement calendar
- Ability to engage and interact with fanbases through Twitter, Discord, and other social media
- “A”-Level writer and communicator
Requirements
- Write longform features on Boston Cannons players
- Cover breaking news (i.e. coaching hires, free agent signings, trades, transactions, injuries)
- Ask critical questions in postgame press conferences
- Work closely with the Boston Cannons social media team on weekly creative calls
- Work collaboratively with the PLL editorial team to identify micro and macro storylines
- Maintain an active social media presence to inform Cannons fans of key beats
